Volunteer: MKHC Medical Interpreters (Spanish/English Preferred)

Reach’s Mansfield Kaseman Health Clinic is seeking medical interpreters to help our patients and medical providers communicate effectively. Bilingual (Spanish/English) speakers are most needed. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their oral proficiency. Medical knowledge is helpful but not required. Volunteer: Housing Program GED Prep Tutor

Reach's Housing Program is seeking a volunteer to help a resident prepare for the GED exam. The volunteer will provide one-on-one instruction virtually or in person at one of our two permanent supportive houses located in Rockville. The Director of Client Services will coordinate with the client and the volunteer to arrange a mutually convenient instruction schedule.

Provide a caring voice, check on their well-being, and to confirm they received and are pleased with their scheduled home care services. Skills required include patience in speaking with senior citizens and the ability to complete and email reports to the director. Volunteers and senior clients choose the standard weekly day and time that phone calls will occur.

Primary Care (nurses and medical assistants),   Dermatology,
Endocrinology,
Rheumatology,   Physical Medicine,   Cardiology (consultation and EKG readings only), and   Other medical specialties. 

This is a perfect opportunity for healthcare professionals who are retired or otherwise stopped working in their professional capacities but still want to use their skills to help others. We prefer Clinic volunteers to commit to a regular schedule for at least 6 months, and for at least one 3–4-hour shift per week if possible. The ability to speak Spanish is desirable but not required for physicians; however, for other healthcare personnel, the ability to speak Spanish is now required.

Assist our elderly client keep their yards and gardens in good shape through the growing season and/or when the leaves fall. Choose to volunteer on one day, raking leaves or trimming plants, or make it ongoing from Spring through Autumn or beyond by cutting grass as needed, weeding and trimming, clearing snow or fallen branches after storms.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian  and must be completed outside of school hours.
