Volunteer: Volunteer ECC CounselorWe have a Reggio Emilia inspired summer program for children ages 2-5 years. Volunteers are needed to assist educators with daily activities for children, such as art, music, water play, story time, sports and movement, and more. Volunteer hours are from 9am to 1pm. We are currently accepting volunteers for this summers program which starts in June of 2026. More details to follow. Summer Discovery Volunteer Guidelines Your RoleHelp teachers and support children throughout the day. This may include setting up and cleaning up activities, assisting before and after water play, helping with transitions, and supporting camp-wide events. Always follow the teachers’ lead—if you’re unsure, ask. Be kind, calm, and helpful. Phones should stay out of sight. Stay EngagedPlease stay actively involved with the children. Sitting off to the side is discouraged. You can read stories, play with children, help during outdoor time, and assist teachers as needed. Weekly assignments will be given on your first day. Children & SafetyWe work with children ages 2–5. Interact in age-appropriate ways and help keep children safe at all times. Maintain respectful physical boundaries—do not pick up children, carry them, or have them sit on your lap. You will never be asked to change diapers or clothes. Hours & LocationCamp runs 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. Please arrive by 9:00 AM for a brief meeting. Dress for indoor and outdoor activities. Clothes may get wet or dirty. Wear sunscreen. Bring sandals for water play. LunchYou may eat with the children from 12:30–1:00 PM. Bring nut-free, vegetarian or pescatarian food (fish okay; no shellfish). Bring a water bottle. Service HoursWe are a pre-approved Montgomery County SSL site. You are responsible for tracking your hours and completing your form. I will sign it once finished. Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
