Since 1999, Project Access has been operating resource centers on-site in affordable housing communities. At these centers, we provide access to tools, knowledge, and opportunities that empower residents of all ages to stabilize their households and pave their own paths to prosperity. Project Access addresses the critical challenges faced by “working-poor” individuals and families living in multi-family and senior affordable housing developments by bringing the services to where they live–in their “backyards,” which removes often-cited obstacles to services, such as lack of transportation, language barriers and the need for child care. Project Access Creates opportunities that empower disadvantaged and underserved individuals, families and seniors to achieve greater self-sufficiency, independence, and success.
Volunteers play a fundamental role in providing relevant and quality programs to the communities we serve. Volunteers assist the Service Coordinator with the daily operations and direct programming of the Family and Senior Resource Centers which benefit the residents of affordable housing. Volunteers will have the opportunity to define their role and respective responsibilities based on their particular skill set, site needs and learning objectives.
