Who We Are

The mission of Oak Chapel is to live and show Christ’s teachings, this means growing involvement in the needs of the local community. In a nutshell, we’re all about Celebrating, Connecting, and Caring. We like to say we are the little church that can. We have been in the heart of Layhill with a heart for Layhill for over 125 years, and part of our ongoing mission is to find ways to support those in need around us. We do that in a variety of different ways that help us serve our communities.

What Volunteers Do

Our current community support mission is the weekly delivery of food to families and individuals who cannot pick up food themselves due to lack of transportation, lack of child care, infirmity or disabilities. All are in the 20906 zip code. Each week, volunteers fill 60 bags with produce, bread and staples, customizing the bags contents to the family's preferences where possible. When the bags are ready, volunteer drivers deliver the bags, dropping them off at the recipients' doors.
