Up 2 Us Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger by providing dependable access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food to low income families.
What Volunteers Do
The Blue Bag Program is Up 2 Us Foundation's 1st initiative dedicated to serving children in food insecure households in Montgomery County, Maryland. Every week one student from each household receives a weekend food bag. The bag contains a variety of food such as whole grains, low sodium canned vegetables, one protein item, and healthy snack items that can be shared by the whole family.
General Activities that volunteers and student volunteers may complete include, sorting food, packing food bags for families, and helping with fundraising and community events. Tasks at events include, set-up, clean-up, checking guests in, and organizing bake sales. Student volunteers may also assist by setting up food drives at their school, under the supervision of a school sponsor.
