Who We Are
Arts for the Aging engages the therapeutic power of regular arts participation to improve physical, cognitive, and emotional health. We connect older adults and caregivers with arts experiences to increase socialization and prevent loneliness, and equip professional artists with curriculums, trainings, and skills to ignite self-expression and social connection vital to healthy aging and caregiving
Our paid, professional teaching artists are highly trained and experienced. Artistic faculty design and lead workshops in visual, musical, performing, literary, interdisciplinary, and intergenerational arts experiences. Our programs take place with community and residential care settings such as adult day centers, community centers, senior centers, nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, senior 'Villages,' memory cafes, and group homes, primarily in Greater Washington DC.
What Volunteers Do
Attend programs (in-person, M-F mornings and afternoons) with the program director to assist in supporting, evaluating, documenting programs, and providing general teaching artist support. Document programs with photos, videos, and screenshots, and collect quotes and testimonials.
