We have been worshiping together since 1753. All are welcome to worship among Friends! The Religious Society of Friends (or Quakers) holds as the basis of its faith the belief that God endows each human being with a measure of the Divine Spirit. We believe that the gift of God’s presence and the light of God’s Truth have been available to all people at all times and in all ages. The Religious Society of Friends has no formal creed but seeks continuing revelation. We are a religious fellowship based on common religious ideals and experiences rather than on creed or liturgy. Each person must prayerfully seek individual guidance and must follow the Light found within. Simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship—core Quaker values referred to as the SPICES—provide a path for service at Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting. These values are taught and modeled in our First Day School, and lived out in our Meeting members' and attenders' lives.
