Who We Are

The McKenney Hills–Carroll Knolls Civic Association (MH-CKCA), established in 1992, serves the McKenney Hills and Carroll Knolls neighborhoods in Silver Spring, Maryland. The association acts as a collective voice for residents, addressing neighborhood concerns and fostering community engagement through various social events. These activities aim to strengthen neighborhood cohesion and keep residents informed about local happenings. The association’s boundaries are loosely defined by Forest Glen to the south, Georgia Avenue to the east, Plyers Mill to the north, and Leslie Street to the west.


What Volunteers Do

The McKenney Hills Civic Association, like many local civic groups provides opportunities for volunteers to contribute to the community in various ways.

Here are some common volunteer activities that association will offer:

1. Community Events: Volunteering at or helping organize community events such as neighborhood cleanups, festivals, holiday gatherings, or fundraising events.

2. Neighborhood Beautification and clean up: Volunteers might help with landscaping, planting flowers, or maintaining parks and green spaces within the neighborhood.

3. Assisting with Local Initiatives: Help with initiatives such as improving safety, organizing local meetings, or advocating for issues that impact the neighborhood.

4. Communications: Volunteers may assist with newsletters, updating the association’s website or social media, or helping to spread information about local happenings.

The McKenney Hills–Carroll Knolls Civic Association is a source for information on community events and builds a stronger sense of neighborhood cohesiveness through social events in our little piece of Silver Spring, Maryland.
