Who We Are

ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation is committed to finding a cure for a pediatric brain tumor called DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma). DIPG impacts hundreds of kids each year, usually between ages 4 - 11 years old, and it has a near zero percent survival. Ninety percent of children will succumb to the disease within two years, with a median survival of nine months.

The Foundation works to raise funds for research into DIPG brain tumors and promote awareness of the disease. With new medical developments and access to tumor tissue, researchers are finally hopeful that they will find treatments and a cure for DIPG. Our organization fights to provide the resources for doctors to study DIPG and help save these kids' lives.

In early 2021, Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation and The ChadTough Foundation combined to form a unified nonprofit: ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation. Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation was originally created in June 2015, in honor of 6-year-old Michael Mosier, who passed away from DIPG in May 2015. Michael was diagnosed with DIPG a week after starting kindergarten at Seven Locks Elementary School and battled for 8.5 months. Combining with The ChadTough Foundation (established in honor of Chad Carr from Saline, MI) has created the largest nonprofit focused on finding a cure for the deadliest childhood brain cancer.

What Volunteers Do

Volunteers assist the Foundation in accomplishing its mission of finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer, by helping with events, ongoing operational needs, and awareness activities. The Foundation's primary focus is funding medical research to discover treatments and a cure for DIPG.  Our fundraising initiatives -- and especially our special events -- are critical to achieving this goal.  In Maryland, the foundation has two signature events that require volunteer assistance: the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Superhero Sprint & 6K and the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Dream Big Gala.  The Superhero 6K event has volunteer opportunities before race day and on the day of the event, including for children over 14 who are seeking SSL hours.
