What Volunteers Do
Students Volunteers For Winter 2024
We are looking for student volunteers to assist us in our Lego Innovation After School Classes for the 2023-2024 school year.
Volunteers within Montgomery County must be within the age range of 14-18 years old and are currently enrolled or recent graduate of Montgomery County Public Schools within the past year.
Our after school programs are weekly programs that last for roughly 8-10 weeks.
Class time begins from 3:30-4:15 depending on the school you have registered for and is roughly 50-90 mins in length.
Each class completed will result in 2 SSL Hours. All finished SSL forms will be filled and emailed to the email corresponding to your initial registration.
PLEASE NOTE:
We have updated our registration process. After registration, students should expect an email from Events@Deilab.com within 48 hours.
Please respond to this email at least 24 hours before the date you have volunteered to help with class!
Otherwise you will be dropped from our list and the space will reopen!
Support Our Class In The Following Ways:
DEILAB volunteers support Lead Instructors and each other in creating a safe, positive environment for learners to experiment with project ideas and team building.
You will be expected to engage with Pre-K through 5th grade students of MCPS, present daily projects, and answer their questions to ensure that our programs run smoothly and that everyone is learning while having fun!
- Commit to one day a week at the school of their choice to earn 2 SSL hours. (Registration for more than one class can range from per day for 16-20 total hours in the season.)
- Refrain from using your phone while engaging with instructors or students. (Cell phones can be used during emergencies or early dismissals)
- Arrive on time to help prepare the classroom before students arrive.
- Encourage children to learn from building mistakes and develop a growth mindset about failure and innovation.
- Help Lead Instructors in cleaning and packing away class materials after student dismissal.
