Montgomery County MD Section's guiding principle, embodied in our uplifting motto "Serving Is What We Do," reflects our unwavering commitment to active community engagement. We recognize the paramount importance of positively impacting the lives of our youth and families, and our dedicated members are the heartbeat of our transformative initiatives. In addition to our ongoing efforts in nourishing the hungry, providing clothing for the needy, caring for senior citizens, assisting the homeless, and mentoring young ladies in schools, we have expanded our scope to address critical issues through our specialized committees including health, social justice, people in crisis, education, and partnership with Good Health Women's Immunization Networks (Good Health WINS).
The Education committee stands as a beacon of Mary McLeod Bethune's legacy, committed to equipping high school girls of African descent with essential life tools and leadership skills. Going beyond academics, the committee aims to instill cultural pride and empower these young women to make informed choices, fostering resilience and social acumen. Through targeted efforts in the 2023 Program year, the committee endeavors to address mental health, provide scholarship information, and engage with students with GPAs below 2.0, employing tutoring, mentoring, and incentives to elevate their academic achievements and position them for success.
