Who We Are

PORCH Communities is a grassroots organization located in Chapel Hill, NC. We mobilize volunteers to create sustainable hunger relief programs in their local areas (We have a Chapter in Greenbelt!) Our three step model is used by 2,000 volunteers in 600+ neighborhoods across 13 states. Join us and make your town or neighborhood a PORCH community.

What Volunteers Do

PORCH volunteers, within a Chapter model, serve as Neighborhood Coordinators who organize monthly food collections and deliveries to local pantries or schools. They build relationships with these pantries and schools to ensure donations align with needs and schedules. Volunteers also recruit food donors and additional helpers to expand community participation in food collection and distribution. Volunteers typically live within the Montgomery County area but can also serve pantries outside of this area.
