Who We Are
Drive Smart Maryland is a program of traffic safety non-profit Drive Smart Virginia. Drive Smart Virginia’s mission is to raise traffic safety awareness among all road users in order to save lives and reduce injuries on the roadways. This mission is advanced by fostering community partnerships, offering free interactive programs, attending outreach events, advocating for traffic safety initiatives, and conducting an annual Distracted Driving Summit.
What Volunteers Do
Volunteers will assist with children participating in the Safety Town activity. This will include following along with them as the ride through Safety Town and making sure they are riding safely and following the signs and signals. Volunteers will help to make it a fun and playful environment through engaging with the children and helping them learn about basic traffic safety habits. They may be required to help with the set up and breakdown of the activity, preparing children for the activity (getting helmet on, selecting bike/trike/scooter) and distributing supplemental materials to children and caregivers.
