Who We Are

To help children who are battling cancer, and their families. Proceeds benefit the oncology and bone marrow transplant sections of Children's National Medical Center where Ben Goldfogle was treated for more than 6 years before passing away in September 2009 when he was almost 12.

What Volunteers Do

Ben's Gift was founded in order to establish Ben's Run, a 5 miler, 5K and 1 mile run/walk in the Stonegate/Silver Spring neighborhood off New Hampshire Ave. Ben's Run is an annual event to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research at Children's National in Washington, DC. The funds raised are dedicated to a clinical trial that seeks to improve outcomes from bone marrow transplants for children with high risk leukemia who received chemotherapy treatment and have relapsed. If the study is successful, it will open the door for investigation into care for other cancers, such as solid tumors and lymphoma. All findings will be reported to the scientific community, particularly the Children's Oncology Group -- the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research.
