Who We Are

Camp Airy & Camp Louise - summer camps.

What Volunteers Do

Students who participate in our Summer Trainee programs participate in a variety of service projects throughout the summer. One of the primary responsibilities trainees have is camper supervision and activity facilitation. There is always a full staff member present when trainees are interacting with the kids. Trainees also participate in service projects every summer, with the topics changing from year to year. This past summer, trainees spent 4 weeks learning about homelessness in our area, and putting together food and supplies baskets to donate at the end of the summer. They also created new home kits for people transitioning out of homelessness. Two years ago there were lessons on youth illness, and related donation projects as well. Each summer there is a new educational topic and a series of projects that go along with it. Trainees also partner with nearby organizations, like Camp Greentop, which hosts campers with special needs every summer. They go to that camp, and run programs and games, and learn about the accommodations at Greentop that enable anyone to attend summer camp. Each summer has unique service opportunities. Service is a very important part of the program to us, so although the particular projects may change year to year, all trainees will always participate in a variety of service during their time in the program.
