Camp Sonshine International

Camp Sonshine International is an award-winning, county, and state-licensed Christian day camp in Maryland. We provide both summer day camp and year-round programming such as After School Care for school-aged children in Montgomery County. Our programs are tailored to meet the developmental needs of each age group that we serve. We handpick our staff from all over the world who love working with youth and who intentionally model the kind of behavior parents want their children to emulate.

We serve children of all different ages, races, and economic statuses. Camp Sonshine also has a scholarship program that allows us to serve those children in the community who without it would never get to experience camp.

The Leader in Training Program will equip teens in 7th-9th grade with important leadership/life skills such as Teamwork, Responsibility, Communication, Problem Solving, and Community Service. These vital leadership skills are taught in a safe, fun, and challenging group environment.

As a Leader-In-Training, teens get an opportunity to work side by side with a counselor to help with group supervision and control, creating a safe and fun environment while assisting to lead games and activities. Teens work with the children for 7 hours a day while also working with counselors to learn about valuable leadership skills that will help them throughout life. The teens who volunteer to be Leaders-In-Training are an asset to camp and help greatly in making camp a fun and safe experience for all. 

Skills in leadership will be developed through practice with our trained staff throughout the summer. 

The LIT Program provides the opportunity for teens to get outside and have fun during the summer while developing positive decision-making skills, building lasting connections, and being surrounded by positive role models.
