Who We Are
To nurture and strengthen Jewish leadership and community through meaningful and active informal Jewish camp and retreat experiences, therefore creating a legacy of Jewish identity for future generations.Capital Camps provides a quality camp experience to children ages 8-17 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Campers experience camp for 2, 3, or 4 weeks. Our oldest camp programs provide opportunities to give back to both the camp community and external community through service.
What Volunteers Do
The Counselors in Training program identifies, trains and develops future camp and community leaders. To achieve these outcomes, the CIT program curriculum highlights the importance of independent living skills, care for children, physical and emotional health and the awesome responsibility associated with caring for someone else's child.
The CITs also participate on a service trip each summer where they lay hardwood flooring, paint interior walls, hang and smooth drywall, and hang and mount interior doors. This works is done in communities that have suffered from natural disasters in the previous year.
