Who We Are

Catholic Charities is the social ministry outreach of the Archdiocese of Washington. Motivated by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, and guided by Catholic social and moral teaching, Catholic Charities strengthens the lives of all in need by giving help that empowers and hope that lasts. To this end we affirm and support the dignity of all human life, strengthen families and serve the poor and most vulnerable.

What Volunteers Do

Catholic Charities has been meeting the needs of those in Washington, D.C. and five surrounding Maryland counties for nearly 90 years. Catholic Charities-Montgomery County Family Center operates to resolve crises and provide family support, through services such as assistance with food, clothing, diapers and emergency financial assistance.  Catholic Charities’ Spanish Catholic Center (SCC) has been one of the leading English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) service providers in Montgomery County since 1993. SCC educates individuals in English literacy with the goal of developing the skills and knowledge necessary to improve their academic skills, secure employment, and achieve independence and stability.
