Who We Are
The Chevy Chase Historical Society collects, records, interprets and shares materials relating to the history of Chevy Chase, Maryland, one of America's first streetcar suburbs. Founded in 1981, the nonprofit volunteer organization provides resources for historical research and sponsors a variety of programs and activities to foster knowledge and appreciation of the community's history.
What Volunteers Do
Our Archive and Research Center Center is an unparalleled resource for scholars, students, and residents. Our collection has more than 10,000 photographs, hundreds of maps and drawings, diaries, letters, postcards, and more than 125 transcribed oral history interviews. Our website has a searchable database with our entire collection. The site also includes videos of lectures, online exhibits, audio clips of oral history interviews, our newsletters, and an online store. We offer fall and spring lectures, open to all, with noted historians and authors. As well as tours to historic sites!
