Community Food Rescue

Community Food Rescue (CFR), a program of Manna Food Center, is the food recovery network for Montgomery County. We match food donor businesses with food assistance organizations and volunteer food runners to redirect donated food to organizations that serve people who are food insecure. Together we feed more and waste less!

Community Food Rescue (CFR) is Montgomery County's food recovery network to redirect perfectly good, unsold food from food businesses including groceries, caterers, farmers, schools, hospitals,and restaurants to food assistance organizations that provide supplemental food or hot meals to their clients. We seek volunteers who are 18+years with a good driving record and a vehicle to transport food. CFR matches food donors with recipient organizations using a web-based software and mobile app. called, Chowmatch. Once a match is made CFR volunteers get an email request for each food run. The first volunteer who claims the run gets it. Food runs can be one time or on a regular weekly basis. Volunteers can accept food runs according to their schedule and even accept runs on the fly using our mobile app.

We seek volunteer food runners, and also volunteers to help pick fresh produce (glean) at local farms. If interested, please contact us and indicate which specific volunteer activity you are interested in. I'll send you more information.
