Who We Are

Pedestrian Safety in Montgomery County is a large issue, with over 400 collisions per year. The Pedestrian Safety Program aims to make our county safer by reducing the number of collisions.

What Volunteers Do

In 2007, the county introduced the Pedestrian Safety Initiative which uses a three-pronged approach that coordinates Engineering, Education, and Enforcement with the intention of influencing pedestrian and driver behavior. The program educates residents and students through school programs and at outreach events. The program also sends out police to give citations and warnings to drivers and pedestrians who break the law. These joint efforts are helping to drastically reduce the number of pedestrian collisions and make our county safer.
