Who We Are
Future Link's mission is to change the destination of disadvantaged young adults in Montgomery County (aged 18-25) and support them to understand the WHY and HOW of their education and career. The organization helps young adults enter and persist in post-secondary education and training programs and develop a meaningful career path. The goal is to produce self-sufficient, contributing members of society.
What Volunteers Do
Future Link bridges the gap between the needs of the workforce and aspiring talent. Future Link provides self-advocacy education, career immersion activities, mentoring, and academic supports which assist at-risk youth (aged 18-25) to successfully transition to adulthood. The organization works with economically disadvantaged, first generation young adults who lack the resources and skills to navigate the complex educational system and workforce. Other risk factors experienced by this vulnerable population includes aging out of foster care, disconnected youth, and/or youth who have experienced homelessness, addiction, incarceration, academic disruption and/or personal trauma. Future Link participants receive individualized, long-term guidance and support to enter post-secondary education or training programs. All students begin the program with a 15-week Self Advocacy and Career Development college level seminar to begin their professional journey, chart a career pathway, and develop a toolbox of workforce skills. Post-seminar, students remain long-term with Future Link to access individualized services including mentoring, tutoring, academic counseling, paid internships, continuing education workshops, frequent check-ins and scholarship assistance.
