Who We Are

The IWLA's goal is to preserve, maintain, protect and restore the soils, air, woods, water and wildlife of our country. We are a local chapter of the Izaak Walton National League national organization. Working together for a healthier plant for all to enjoy!

What Volunteers Do

Our chapter has numerous programs and learning opportunities for young volunteers. We have a chapter "Adopt-A-Road" cleanup program (First Sunday of each month), Watershed Cleanup and Save Our Streams Programs (preserve the streams and open space that make up the Seneca Creek Watershed for the use and health of native wildlife and its citizens by testing and monitoring local streams), Collect tree nuts and seeds for MD DNR, Bee Hives, Recycling, Jr. Youth conservation programs, 4 or 5 times a year with fun, educational programs offered to area youth ages 5-14. These programs varying in topics and are geared to get kids outside and interested in the outdoors and nature, forest and native plant management, fly fishing, wood duck, kestrel and blue bird nesting boxes management, road cleanup on a section of Waring Station Road and much more.
