Who We Are

KID Museum is a new kind of museum serving children and families in the Washington, D.C. area. KID Museum offers unique, interactive experiences for elementary and middle school-aged children that integrate hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math learning with an exploration of world cultures and global citizenship.

KID Museum’s sites at 3 Bethesda Metro Center and  Davis Library in Bethesda, Maryland offer the community exciting programs and workshops. We are focused on empowering the next generation to invent the future with imagination, resourcefulness, and compassion.

What Volunteers Do

KID Museum offers adults (18+) and High School students opportunities to volunteer and support bringing our innovative programs to the community.

Adult volunteers support KID Museum student programs (Monday through Friday) by assisting the education team with activity set up and break down and supporting students (elementary-middle) during their field trips.

High School Volunteers who enjoy working with kids and are interested in science, technology, art, design, math, or engineering support the work of KID Museum in our after-school programs, summer camps, and Sunday open museum hours.

Teen Volunteers:

  • Work closely with museum Maker Educators to facilitate hands-on programming for children ages 4 – 14.
  • Get trained in maker education, STEM and art programs, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Support fun and engaging maker-based activities for families.
  • Gain communication, leadership, and facilitation skills, as well as valuable work experience.
  • Earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
  • Meet and work with other teens.
