Leveling The Playing Field

Leveling the Playing Field gives underprivileged children the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports participation. We do this through the donation of used and excess sporting equipment to programs and schools who serve low-income communities. Our donations allow programs to allocate funds saved by lowering registration fees, expanding their scholarship programs, enhancing their existing athletic program and/or developing new ones. LPF works to get every kid off the sidelines and into the game!

Leveling the Playing Field works to identify and qualify communities, youth centers, schools and organizations that use sports to instill valuable life skills within underprivileged youth. With budget cuts to government funded organizations and an ever growing population of children living under the poverty line, kids everywhere are missing out on an opportunity to participate in athletics. We identify areas of need and work within the community (religious centers, community centers, private schools, scout troop collections etc...) to collect as much equipment as possible so that these children can have sports equipment of their own!

We are always in need of volunteers to help with the following tasks

1. Sorting/Inventorying equipment donations in our warehouse
2. Reorganizing our shelves and making sure items are in the correct place and are properly sorted by size
3. Help identify items that are not in safe condition and help us recycle those items
4. Help put together outgoing donations in the warehouse
5. Run your own collection drive! Mitzvah Project, Eagle Scout, Honors Society, you name it!!! (Please note that students may not earn SSL hours for time spent collecting items or hosting a collection drive on their own without direct, in-person supervision provided by a registered nonprofit organization in a public space.)
6. Help us at OUR collection drives - Join us in the community as we run our many collection drives at sports leagues, tournaments and other community events
