Who We Are
Assisting local youth baseball and softball via sports, health, anti-drug, tobacco and alcohol education, and improving baseball infrastructure and fields in Montgomery County. Also, operating the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts, a summer college wooden bat baseball team which plays in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, and the Thunderbolts Baseball Camps.
What Volunteers Do
One of the missions of Maryland Community Baseball, Inc. is fund-raising to improve youth baseball and softball fields. As part of our effort we operate a summer collegiate baseball team, the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts. Game night volunteers will work in a variety of jobs--concession stand, ticket, and souvenir sales; announcing; official scoring; sound system and scoreboard operation; after game clean-up; etc. Ages for the volunteers: 14 to adult depending on the role. The Thunderbolts website at www.tbolts.org has more information about the team. Time Details: 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. 2-4 times per week in May, June, July and early August. Day of the week varies. Hours may be different depending on the assignments. Scorekeepers need experience and will be trained in the computer program used. Announcing experience is helpful for announcers. A training session will be provided for sound system operation. No special requirements are needed for other tasks. Assignments will be made on an age appropriate basis.
