Who We Are
The mission of the Metropolitan Washington Ear is to provide free media services which bring blind, visually impaired and other print disabled people into the mainstream, rather than separating them from society.
What Volunteers Do
The Washington Ear volunteers make recordings of current publications such as newspapers and magazines. The recordings are broadcast over closed- circuit radio or can be accessed by our listeners with their telephones using our Dial-In service. We also provide audio description for local theaters and offer a look-up service for listeners who need help with ads, yellow pages, and other information. Our services are free to all who need them.
