Who We Are

National Park Trust - Preserving Parks Today; Creating Park Stewards for Tomorrow

Since 1983, the National Park Trust has acquired many of the missing pieces of our national parks, benefiting 56 national park sites across the country. Our national youth education and family initiatives, including our Buddy Bison, College Ambassador and Military Family Programs, and National Kids to Parks Day, serve tens of thousands of children annually and cultivate future park stewards. We believe our public parks, lands, and waters should be cared for, enjoyed, and preserved by all for current and future generations.

The Park Park Trust has the unique opportunity to make park preservation projects into a thousand teachable moments, by preserving critical park lands and engaging our youth, especially those that are under-served, with park education programs, outdoor recreation, and park stewardship. We invite you to learn more about our mission and programs and how you can get involved.

What Volunteers Do

PARK PRESERVATION - The Park Trust is a land trust non-profit. As we venture into the second century of the National Park Service, we are working to acquire and preserve high-priority land parcels located within the boundaries of our National Parks. Learn about our current and completed projects here.

BUDDY BISON SCHOOL PROGRAM - The Buddy Bison School Program is a national environmental youth education program that engages students PreK-8th grade from Title I schools with local, state, and national parks. Our goal is to cultivate future park stewards by bringing environmental education outdoors.

KIDS TO PARKS DAY - Kids to Parks Day is a national day of play that connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks. By discovering our public lands, kids across the country are learning about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM, and history. Kids to Parks Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May.
