Outdoor Nursery School

Outdoor Nursery School in Chevy Chase welcomes children ages 2 ½ through 4 years old. Our mission is to prepare our children to become independent, self-assured and ready to meet the next challenge through play-based learning.  We focus on social and emotional progress and hands-on experiences by providing a broad base of varied experiences with materials, peers and caring adults within a safe, but flexible, structure. We provide an interpersonal and physical environment to support each child's developmental and learning style. Our educators bring their own special qualities to the school to help each child develop fundamental concepts basic to language, reading, mathematics, science and social studies. They are early childhood education certified and most have master's degrees. The basic tenets of our school have changed little since 1933.  We believe children are happier and healthier outside and that they can and need to learn through play.

Volunteers typically help teachers copy, organize and bind projects the children have completed.  We often need help organizing the library and craft areas.
