Rockville Evangelical Mission Church

Rockville Evangelical Mission Church is a nonprofit Christian church dedicated to serving the community through outreach, education, and volunteer service. We provide MCPS students with supervised service-learning opportunities that promote leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and community engagement through meaningful volunteer activities.

Youth Outreach Program provides meaningful MCPS Student Service Learning (SSL) volunteer opportunities that encourage leadership, responsibility, teamwork, compassion, and community engagement. All volunteer activities are supervised by trained adult volunteers or staff. Volunteer Opportunities 1. English Language Tutoring Assist non-English-speaking members of the community with conversational English and basic language skills under adult supervision.2. Youth Mentoring Program Serve as a peer mentor in a Big Brothers/Big Sisters-style mentoring program. Training, guidance, and ongoing supervision are provided.3. Homework & Academic Enrichment Help children with homework and lead educational enrichment activities such as reading, math, science, STEM, music, art, crafts, computer skills, and sports.4. Senior Outreach Visit nursing homes, assisted living communities, and senior centers to provide companionship through conversation, games, music, crafts, reading, and seasonal activities.5. Homeless & Community Outreach Help prepare, organize, and distribute food, hygiene kits, clothing, and other essential items to individuals and families in need through shelters and community outreach programs.6. Community Service Projects Participate in neighborhood and community improvement projects, including: Raking leavesYard cleanupCommunity and park cleanupsFood and clothing drivesDonation sorting and packingAssisting elderly or disabled residents with seasonal outdoor chores7. Community Event Volunteers Assist with community events by helping with registration, children's activities, Harvest Festival games, family picnics, event setup and cleanup, activity stations, welcoming guests, and other community service events.8. Youth Sports Volunteers Support youth sports camps, practices, clinics, and tournaments by assisting with registration, scorekeeping, coaching support, supervising participants, distributing equipment, serving refreshments, and facility setup and cleanup.9. Community Summer Camp Assist with educational and recreational activities, including arts and crafts, STEM projects, reading, outdoor games, sports, team-building activities, and supervision of campers.10. Friday Night Community Children's Activities Assist with organizing and supervising children's games, sports, recreational activities, and group activities during the Friday evening community children's program. Volunteers may also help with event setup, cleanup, welcoming families, and creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for all participants. Through these volunteer opportunities, students develop leadership, communication, teamwork, responsibility, problem-solving, and service skills while making a positive impact by helping meet the needs of children, families, seniors, and the broader Montgomery County community.
