Who We Are

The Food Pantry at Silver Spring Christian Reformed Church aims to reduce food insecurity in our community in an environment that encourages relationships among food pantry participants, volunteers, the congregation, and the broader community. We aim to do this in a way that recognizes that God created us as individuals and as a church to live in community and to bring the justice, mercy, and shalom of God to our community with the help of the Holy Spirit.

What Volunteers Do

We offer two food pantries per month. The first is on the 2nd Tuesday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. This community pantry serves anyone who needs food, and currently serves about 700 households per distribution. We also hold a smaller choice pantry by referral on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. At each pantry, we distribute shelf stable foods, fresh produce, and occasionally hygiene items and diapers. Volunteers help pack food, set-up, distribute food, and clean up after the distribution time. Volunteers who speak Spanish may have the opportunity to help with intake as well.
