Who We Are
Silver Spring Stage is an all-volunteer community theater that puts on some of the best community theater in the Washington, DC area. With over 50 years of innovative work, Silver Spring Stage is considered one of the top community theaters in the region.
What Volunteers Do
Silver Spring Stage produces compelling, intellectually stimulating, and culturally progressive theatrical works that offer creative opportunities for a mix of amateur, novice and experienced actors, directors, and designers in Montgomery County. Each year, the Stage produces seven full-length plays plus a one-act festival and a winter holiday show. Our one-act festival provides a showcase for theatrical newcomers and youth and the holiday show attracts community families both on-stage and off. We have produced plays by BIPOC artists and actively recruit actors, directors, and production team members with an eye to diversity. Student volunteers can help us with maintaining our facility, ushering for shows, working backstage or onstage. Our most recent seasons have included productions directed at Black, Asian-American, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ audiences. In addition to our play choices, we have been seeking BIPOC artists for our projects and have used numerous Black and Asian actors in our projects in recent years. Over the years, the Stage has built a reputation for taking risks while producing shows that regularly receive top honors and awards.
