

Who We Are
We are a congregation of approximately 250 members. Our sanctuary, offices and church school facilities are located on a wooded campus at the northeast corner of Georgia Avenue and Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring, We are a community of faith, which welcomes all Christians to full participation in our worship and activities, without regard to gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, race or cultural heritage. We believe it is important to reach out into the world., helping others and working toward justice for all persons. We believe it is"our job" to help all live a life of meaning and equality. We work to improve the quality of life for our neighbors in the community, the nation and the world.
What Volunteers Do
St. Matthew is a very active congregation.
We are involved in many community service programs, including:
**Many food based programs, such as:
cooking for a women's shelter, providing summer lunches for neighborhood children, packing and delivering weekend food to the children of a neighborhood elementary school, participating in Rise Against Hunger meal packing programs, making sandwiches for a DC soup kitchen, and hosting a community garden.
We are also invested in other programs such as:
Extra-Ordinary birthdays, an organization that provides birthday parties for children in homeless shelters and CAMP JOY, a youth oriented work camp.
In addition we are active in Community Partners, an organization committed to improving the lives of our community and Interfaith Works, an organization committed to helping lift persons out of poverty.
