Who We Are

The Pearls of Hope Community Foundation, Incorporated is a charitable, nonprofit organization, that upholds the following purposes: Provide scholarships to deserving high-school graduates in Montgomery County, Maryland; Develop and carry out charitable, educational programs to uplift the cultural, economic and general welfare of youth and families in Montgomery County, Maryland; Support the community service programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Xi Sigma Omega Chapter.

What Volunteers Do

Community Volunteers support the foundation’s service and outreach efforts by helping collect, sort, assemble, and distribute materials for programs that benefit individuals and families in the local Maryland community.

Volunteers may also assist with event logistics, including set-up, registration, participant support, clean-up, and other on-site tasks that help community programs and special events run smoothly.  In this role, volunteers contribute to a welcoming, organized, and mission-focused environment while working collaboratively with foundation leaders, chapter members, and community partners.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are dependable, service-oriented, and interested in making a meaningful impact through hands-on support of charitable and educational initiatives.

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Students can earn SSL hours by assisting with event logistics, including collating meeting materials, preparing information packets, assisting with room setup, handling registration, and distributing event resources.

Additionally, students may have opportunities to share specific skills or knowledge through structured activities—for example, a high school athlete providing golf instruction to middle school participants during an out-of-school time activity.
