Who We Are

Our mission is to allow every child to learn to code without having to take a class in computer programming.  Instead we encourage the children to explore concepts/programming languages they are interested in and then show their work and collaborate with others.  Mentors experienced in computer programming provide advice/encourage exploration in new areas throughout the meetings. CoderDojoDC has been around since 2013, but we formed Make A Difference Engine to support the needs of the group in December of 2014.

What Volunteers Do

Make A Difference Engine, Inc. supports CoderDojoDC.  CoderDojoDC is a programming club for children ages 7-17 where children can work together with other children interested in learning to code as well as learn from mentors experienced in the field.  We meet every other week to code together in downtown Rockville (at the Maker Space in the library) and we provide Raspberry Pis for children to use to code.  Additionally, we participate in other activities such as organizing a Raspberry Jam, having a booth at the Rockville Science Fair, and having a booth at the Silver Spring Maker Faire.
