Who We Are
We are retired STEM professionals in Montgomery County who volunteer our time in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to bring the real world of STEM into the classroom. We are working actively, together with the MCPS STEM Supervisor and her team, to expand our volunteer program throughout Montgomery County.
We are mostly retired scientists, engineers, and mathematicians with research, industrial, and education backgrounds. We have a passion for teaching science and supporting STEM teachers, K-12, in MCPS.
What Volunteers Do
Our volunteers commit to spending several hours per week assisting teachers in a wide variety of activities, including giving brief lectures on relevant topics to classes, clarifying science concepts to students, helping prepare for laboratory experiments, assisting with after-school science activities, and more.
If you have a STEM background and experience and are interested in helping MCPS teachers and students get a better appreciation of STEM subjects and how they fit into our everyday lives, please come join us -- you will be making a valuable contribution to the next generation of scientists, technology professionals, engineers and mathematicians.
