Who We Are
DC Natives’ goals are a) to support a healthy climate by increasing pollinator habitats and b) to create the local beauty we believe every resident deserves. DC Natives hopes our gardens support long term residents who may feel disenfranchised in changing neighborhoods. DC Natives has impact on at least three levels: supporting the environment, cultivating beauty for the resident, and growing neighborhood connections.
What Volunteers Do
We support DC’s burgeoning urban agriculture/edible gardening movement by creating ornamental gardens that sustain the pollinators that are essential to food growth. Low maintenance and drought resistant, gardens are beautiful, manageable plots scattered throughout the District. DC Natives hopes to foster a love of gardening while cultivating deeper understanding of the environmental significance of an existence of pollinator habitats in the District and the region.
