Who We Are
The Chinese Youth Club, Inc. was established and chartered in 1939. CYC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides opportunities for our members to engage with the local community through volunteer activities, athletics, and cultural education. CYC emphasizes the character building of youth members so that they can be empowered as productive individuals in their personal and professional lives. CYC believes that teamwork, sportsmanship, and instilling positive values such as integrity, respect, and volunteerism will create a stronger generation of individuals. With our senior members mentoring junior members through their active participation in the CYC programs, we build strong relationships between one generation and the next as they share meaningful experiences.
What Volunteers Do
The Washington Chinese Youth Club has served the Asian community of the Greater Washington DC area for over 75 years. As one of the longest tenured organizations serving the Asian youth in this area, CYC continues its vision to expand our programs

- Education
to enrich the lives of people in our community. We encourage young adults to participate in our programs throughout the year.
During the Chinese Lunar New Year season, usually in January or February, we seek volunteers to help promote cultural awareness. Volunteers participate with setup and logistics execution, put up flags, hold banners, pass out goodies, march in the parade, and clean up. This annual event is sponsored by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) whom CYC partners with to organize. Volunteers are welcomed and SSL hours are given to students who can help.
Other SSL hour volunteer opportunities we give is when we host the annual McDonald's Educational Workshops in the fall. Student help setup chairs and tables at the venue where the event will take place and stay until the end and help with clean up after the workshop is completed.
Lastly in December, we join hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans that donate their time to place wreaths on the markers of fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. There is no age limit to volunteer and, in fact, we encourage families to come and share in this patriotic experience!
