Who We Are
The Great Falls Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to promoting an active and outdoor lifestyle by collaborating with land and water resource managers, producing adventure sporting events and competitions, and fostering the safe recreational use of our natural resources in the DC area.
What Volunteers Do
The Foundation advocates for access to, and preservation of, natural resources so that those resources may be utilized in pursuit of an active and outdoor lifestyle. To accomplish this mission, the Foundation builds and enables public-private partnerships that celebrate, preserve, and fund activities that showcases sustainable recreational utilization of natural resources. Basically, we love the outdoors, especially the water, and want to do everything we can to help preserve and treasure our backyard river!
So what does this mean for volunteers? It means that we need as much help as we can get during our events and throughout the year! We have ample opportunities (and no experience needed!) in the following areas:
- Event Planning and Logistics
- Event Promotion and Outreach
- Event Registration before and during day of for events/races
- Event Support Staff - to include crowd control, course monitoring, and support of racers/participants
- Social Media Director!!!!
- Social Media Content Creation - Videos, flyers, graphics, anything awesome!
- Media Outreach with Local News Outlets
- River Clean-Up event volunteers
And more!
We also strike to connect interested people with the outdoor community in general. Our partnerships include a variety of small businesses in the DC area that can help you get out in the sun for experiences on the water and on the land!
