Asian American LEAD supports low-income & underserved youth with educational empowerment, identity development, and leadership opportunities through after school, summer, and mentoring programs. We connect youth ages 8-18 with adults to form relationships that provide youth with a safe avenue to express their feelings and frustrations, foster positive self-identity, and develop the skills they need to be confident, engaged, and successful.

Roles & Responsibilities of a Mentor:
-Listen to their mentee's concerns
-Enhance their mentee's belief in their own potential
-Provide a safe environment for mentees to explore new interests
-Submit monthly mentor logs about mentoring activities to AALEAD
-Work with mentee to achieve goals
-Notify AALEAD about any life changes that would inhibit mentoring
Time Commitment:
-Spend ~5 hours per month together for at least one year
-In-person meetings are required throughout the year, but there may be virtual sessions as well
Mentor Qualifications:
- Over the age of 21
- Pass background and reference checks
- Have lifestyle compatible with mentoring for at least one year
- Commitment to making a difference in a young person's life
- Commitment to positive youth development
