KID Museum's Invent the Future Challenge, held in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools, invites middle school students to develop, design, and prototype an innovative solution to a community problem. This region-wide STEM initiative broadens student access to hands-on, project-based learning experiences that promote creative problem-solving, adaptability, and technical skills — skills critical to success in a fast-changing, 21st century economy. Small teams of students work collaboratively to design solutions to the challenge question: What will you make to protect life on this planet?
Judges needed: At the Challenge Summit, the culminating event of the Invent the Future Challenge, middle school teams present their prototyped inventions to peers, parents, teachers, and expert judges. We are looking for experienced professionals to participate as volunteer judges. Judges will interact directly with students about their ideas, and score them in categories such as originality, collaboration, design process, and presentation. Judges will review each team’s project and use a rubric to score teams.
Location: Gaithersburg High School (101 Education Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD 20877)
