Volunteers will meet at the Chapel (on the grounds) at 10:00 a.m. to be given instructions regarding the placement of flags on grave sites of our military veterans. We have 503 veterans buried at Monocacy Cemetery.
We will gather in groups of 3+ volunteers per section. Each group would walk the assigned cemetery row to place the flags.
We estimate 2 working hours for this event. All ages welcome, from 6th grade up. Hilly, rough ground must be traversed. Dress appropriately for the weather of the day. We will place flags rain or shine.
A pre-filled SSL form will be provided for each student, who will be required to write a descriptive paragraph about this event.
Signing up to volunteer is a commitment to showing up at our event. Failure to show up means another student will have missed an opportunity to participate.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety.
