Thanks for being interested in volunteering at FutureFest (formerly Maker Faire Silver Spring) on Sunday, September 15, 2019. We have positions available for adults and for teenagers.
DC region’s dynamic family festival celebrating our power to build a better future will feature experiential STEAM learning, cutting-edge innovations, and an exploration of the diverse world cultures of our community, to inspire kids and adults alike. Enjoy hands-on activities, interactive exhibits and demos, and live performances — and see how, together, we can invent the future.
We need volunteers to help with setting up the festival site, and clean-up, as well as help during the festival day with running activities. There are three volunteer shifts from 8:00am-12; 11am-4pm; 2:00pm-6:00pm. Volunteers are welcome to work more than one shift. We particularly need assistance for the morning shift for set-up and for break-down.
Our volunteers are important to us and we will try to make the experience as fun for you as possible. The volunteer coordinator will assign you to whatever need is most pressing during the festival. When you check-in let the volunteer coordinator know if you have any physical limitations or don’t want to be doing a specific task.
Check-in for FutureFest volunteers will be in the building, on the second floor near the elevators.
Dress appropriately for the weather. If it is raining – wear a raincoat. It could be hot. Wear sunscreen and sneakers (or other very comfortable shoes).
