Every Fall, we need to take down and clean the Big Train baseball sponsor banners, rake leaves, and pull weeds at Shirley Povich Field. Join us on Sunday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to noon to help put Povich Field to bed for the winter.
October is Community Service Month in Montgomery County, so come on out to Povich Field, roll up your sleeves, and pitch in. Student Service Learning (SSL) hours are available for MCPS students. Please email Big Train founder Bruce Adams — who started Montgomery’s Community Service Day in 1987 — to let him know you are coming at bruce@greaterwash.org.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
