Eco MoCo PSA Contest: “Our Earth, Our Responsibility – Tackling Pollution Together”:
Environmental Issue to Address in the Video: Pollution and its Impact On Our Environment
Contest Overview:
Middle and high school students are invited to create an effective public service announcement (PSA) video focusing on the broader pollution issue—surrounding air, water, land, and noise pollution—and its effects on our environment and communities. This contest is an opportunity to raise awareness and propose solutions to this crucial issue.

Prizes:
1st Place Winners: 20 Dollar Amazon Gift Card and a shout-out on Eco MoCo's social media, website, and/or YouTube channel.
2nd Place Winners: 10 Dollar Amazon Gift Card and a shout-out on Eco MoCo's social media, website, and/or YouTube channel.
3rd Place Winners: 5 Dollar Amazon Gift Card and a shout-out on Eco MoCo's social media, website, and/or YouTube channel.
All video submissions that meet requirements will be featured on the Eco MoCo social media, website, and/or YouTube channel.
Guidelines and Rules:
1. Title:
All videos must have a title relating to the theme
2. Time Limitation:
The video must be 60-70 seconds long, capturing the audience’s attention efficiently.
3. Theme:
The video should cover at least one of the various types of pollution (air, water, land, and noise) and their impacts on ecosystems, health, and quality of life. Try to highlight the steps people and communities can take to reduce pollution.
4. Submission Requirements:
All submissions must be uploaded to Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, or a similar program and a link must be provided in the submission form. Please make sure that anyone with the link can view your video so that we can access your submission
5. Eco MoCo Logo:
Include the Eco MoCo logo somewhere in the video. Download this link (on your personal account).
6. Plagiarism/Copyrights:
No copyrighted music, visuals, audio clips, logos, characters, or other materials are allowed. Please use "open source" or original materials.
7. Group Submissions:
- Students may work individually or in groups of up to 4 participants. All members of a group must be in the same category of high school or middle school.
8. Submission Deadline:
- All entries must be submitted by March 22nd. Late submissions will not be accepted.
9. SSL Hours:
- All participating Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students will earn 10 SSL hours (Student Service Learning) hours for their involvement.
10. Judging Criteria:
- Videos will be evaluated based on creativity, message clarity, information accuracy, and overall effectiveness. A panel of judges will select the top entries from each category.
11. Permission Form:
Every student participating needs to fill out the permission form using this link. If the permission form isn’t submitted by the contest deadline, videos will not be accepted. Please review and read the entire agreement form before signing and submitting the form.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home.
