Region V Emergency Preparedness Coalition would like to invite you to participate in our annual full-scale exercise. This year, we will be simulating a mass casualty event. Volunteering for this requires that you are available May 21st only starting at 7am and are free until at about 2pm (for most hospitals). You may go through moulage and be given details about your fake symptoms to present when the whole group floods the emergency department at once. You will likely be moved around the hospital a bit as well, possibly including tents. I strongly encourage you to wear old cloths or ones that can be destroyed, as well as bring an extra set of clothes.
We are looking for volunteers of all ages, so parents are encouraged the have their children participate as well (one of mine is already signed up!). I will be happy to sign forms for private school students or offer a letter asking that schools excuse students by email after the exercise. Each school is different and may not accept my letter as an excused absence, so please check with the school ahead of time (Not approved for MCPS SSL hours).

You do not need to be a current volunteer/intern at one of the hospitals to participate. As someone who has either applied, is being processed, or is already a volunteer at Holy Cross, participation in this event does not influence your current status at Holy Cross. This is a really fun way to engage in your community and help our staff learn about how to manage emergencies.
If there is a closer hospital to your home or you are willing to travel a bit, we would be happy to share the wealth with other health systems. Fort Washington Medical Center is one I know only needs a few people, but they do not have a designated person recruiting for them.
I hope to see you sign up through the SignUp Genius,
