Help us to clean-up the Button Farm Cemetery. The site features field stone markers believed to
mark a burial ground for enslaved people. Join our partners Coming To The Table and learn about
African American burial practices and our plan to preserve and commemorate the site. Tasks include
clearing brush, branches and invasive weeds, and establishing a protective perimeter. All work at
Button Farm is SSL eligible. Participants should wear sturdy work shoes and clothes, bring water, a
hat/sun protection, and bug spray. Gloves and tools will be provided.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
