Organization Description
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) of Montgomery Village is a nonprofit charity organization whose mission is dedicated to getting kids off the floor and into their own bed. SHP builds and delivers beds and bedding to children in need within the Montgomery Village, Gaithersburg, and Germantown areas.
Purpose
Addressing the silent yet widespread issue of childhood bedlessness, we invite you to be a part of creating a meaningful impact to our community families. These beds are destined for children sleeping on floors, couches, air mattresses, and other unwanted sleeping conditions and we ensure that each child receives a complete bed set, including a bed, mattress, pillow, sheets, and a blanket. Upon delivery, each child gains more than just a bed – they now have a secure and comfortable space to call their own.
Volunteer Opportunity: Family Scheduling Support
Are you organized, tech-savvy, and looking for a flexible way to make a difference? We’re seeking a dedicated volunteer to help us manage family scheduling for bed deliveries.
What You’ll Do:
- Connect with families remotely through calls, texts, and emails.
- Vet applicants to ensure they meet eligibility requirements.
- Provide families with delivery instructions, and acquire additional information needed for delivery.
- Coordinate and finalize delivery schedules to ensure families receive the beds they need.
- Work independently on your own schedule, while meeting weekly deadlines for delivery.
Details:
Time Commitment: ~ Approx. 2 hours per week.
Location: Remote (work from anywhere)
Skills: Comfortable navigating multiple browser windows simultaneously, reliable, detail-oriented, friendly.
Schedule: Flexible—complete tasks on your time, as long as deadlines are met
