Student Volunteers Needed for Smith Center's Annual Community Service Day!

Join us for the Smith Center's Annual Community Service Day!

The Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center’s (Smith Center) annual community service day will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Named after Mary Howard, longstanding support and contributor to the Smith Center, the day provides an opportunity for adults and families to work alongside MCPS staff and friends to improve the center.

There will be a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks from painting/staining and splitting firewood to enhancing our confidence course and expanding recreational opportunities for students to utilize when they are at Outdoor Education.  

Any student who participates can earn SSL hours but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

We are asking people to sign up in advance so we know how many to expect and what their skills and interests are so we can plan the work.
