Clean up trash with the with Glenmont Forest Neighbors Civic Association (GFNCA)
Join the Glenmont Forest Neighbors Civic Association on the second Sunday of each month from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM to help clean up trash and recycling in the Glenmont Forest neighborhood and surrounding areas.
You are welcome to participate as often as you’d like — monthly attendance is encouraged but not required.
Why It Matters
During rainstorms, discarded trash and recycling wash into storm drains and flow into rivers, lakes, and oceans. By removing litter from our neighborhood, we help prevent pollution and protect our waterways — even our drinking water. Together, we can make a visible difference in our community and environment.
Meeting Location: Little Library at Lindell St. & Judson Rd. Silver Spring, MD
What’s Provided:
- Trash and recycling bags
- Litter pickers
- Gloves
What to Bring & Wear:
Please wear:
- Closed-toe shoes
- Long pants
- Long-sleeve shirt
- Sunscreen
Please bring:
- A reusable water bottle
- Your SSL form (if applicable)
Student Service Learning (SSL) SSL hours are available for students.
- Students under 14 must attend with a parent or guardian.
- Students ages 14–17 attending without a parent must bring a signed minor release form.
- Participation is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian.
- Service activities will be directly supervised by adult representatives of GFNCA in a public space
Come help keep our neighborhood clean and protect our shared environment.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
